These experiences happened spontaneously, usually beginning while I was asleep and I had no conscious involvement in their triggering. While out of body I usually just floated around without much ability to direct myself (everything seemed to happen so fast). And isn’t this how it is for most of us: we will have a few unordinary experiences with altered states of consciousness, they will happen spontaneously and they will go away. Still, it is possible to induce conscious out of body experiences and learn to navigate in the astral dimension. Doing so nearly always requires extensive practice and it is quite easy to get discouraged before getting results that would otherwise keep us motivated. This is why I am recommending isochronic tones and binaural beats (2 types of brainwave entrainment) to anyone practicing astral projection: they make it easier for the brain to slow down, relax and generate theta brainwaves. These are the same types of brainwaves/frequencies generated by the brain during any out of body experience. By bringing the mind into this altered state of consciousness through audio technology, it then becomes easier to project the consciousness out of the body. The first time I listened to a binaural beats recording I went into an altered state of consciousness effortlessly – I did not astral project (probably because I was too excited) but I felt a clear shift in my mind. By simply allowing the shift in consciousness to unfold while listening to the brainwave entrainment recording, I learned that I had been trying too hard to alter my consciousness in my previous attempts. It seemed like the sounds took me by the hand and guided me into the appropriate state and the less I tried to bring about that state, the more it manifested itself. Brainwave entrainment recordings won’t do all of the work for you – you will still need to practice and be patient in order to have amazing conscious astral projection experiences. Nevertheless, binaural beats and isochronic tones effortlessly bring you to the doorsteps of the astral world. Most people don’t even make it this far and the alterations you will feel in your consciousness will keep you motivated to go further.
